Objective
APW is the leading organization in Switzerland for all activities in the field of professional work with the Affolter Model®. The aim of the APW is to publicize the development and therapy model that has emerged from many years of research work by Dr. Félicie Affolter and her colleagues. The APW also supports the dissemination of the Affolter Model®. The APW offers its activities to professionals and relevant institutions in the education and healthcare sectors as well as to those directly affected and their families. To this end, the APW organizes and promotes suitable further education and training courses and supports research in this field. It also supports initiatives to create appropriate educational, training and therapy programs for children and adults, as well as suitable living, leisure and work opportunities for adults. It publishes an information sheet.
Order
The APW is an association of professionals, relatives and other interested parties who are committed to solving problems associated with perceptual disorders. It defines perceptual disorders according to the development and therapy model of Dr. Félicie Affolter. It ensures the joint representation of the concerns of people with perceptual disorders and their relatives, as well as those working in the field of perceptual disorders.
Ethics
The APW is politically and denominationally independent. It is committed to breaking down prejudices against people with sensory disorders and creating appropriate services. Affolter therapists respect and promote the autonomy of those receiving care. They explain their approach and act responsibly and transparently. They never use an imbalance of power for personal gain. Affolter therapists and teachers are committed to their professional code of conduct. Teachers in the APW pass on these ethical guidelines in their courses.
Quality
The APW understands quality as the inseparable interrelationship between the areas of research / practice / further education and training. It is constantly developing its range of services and further training in line with the latest findings in the field of perceptual disorders. In addition, the APW issues suitable regulations to ensure quality in teaching and application and monitors compliance with these regulations.
Organization
The APW is an association within the meaning of Art. 60 of the SZGB. The organizational structures are set out in the organization chart, the rules of procedure, the departmental descriptions of the members of the Board of Directors and the job description for the office holder.
Financial resources
The APW is financially supported by the annual contributions of its members. It is supported by the Federal Social Insurance Office (Switzerland) and by unrestricted donations.
