Go out, my heart, and seek joy…
I will be following this old hymn by Paul Gerhardt (1607-1676), which made it a folk song, for ten weeks starting at the end of May. That's why the newsletter is coming a little earlier than usual. So, I assume that most readers are still at home (or have to stay at home). But there is much to discover there too. Ask Paul Gerhardt.
With heartfelt greetings
Brigitte Pastewka
Now, let's get to the point:
From the APW
This year's general meeting was once again held in the beautiful premises of REHAB in Basel.
We thank you for your hospitality and hope to be able to return on another occasion.
At the general assembly, the 25 attendees spoke with the Renewal election express confidence in Globo's board. New to the Board of Directors was elected Tabea Wössner. We thank her for her willingness to advocate for APW's interests within this framework as well, and we look forward to closer cooperation.
The General Assembly voted in favor of continuing the discussion on Perception disorder« to continue.
This year, for the first time, Further training also online offered. A good fifty people were able to follow the exciting lecture by Ursula Costa (University of Applied Sciences Innsbruck) on the topic of «Efficacy and Factors of Influence of Perceived Interaction Therapy/Affolter Model®» both online and on-site. The option to participate online was met with positive feedback.
As is tradition, the Meeting of the teachers instead. The educators seized the «opportune moment» and continued the discussion on the topic of «Evidence of the Affolter Model®» with Ursula Costa. Ideas for further projects and possibilities for addressing this topic were gathered in a brainstorming session.
Furthermore, the instructors discussed the status of the courses in the Affolter Model®. Where do we stand currently, are adjustments needed? What is desirable, what is feasible? The topic will be continued.
Missed everything? On June 16 and 17, 2027 takes place next general meeting with the meeting of teachers at the Burgau Therapy Center instead.
Still looking for summer reading? There's a new release from Félicie Affolter and Walter Ehwald: «Daniel: A Case Study on the Effectiveness of Perceived Interaction Therapy.» She is at the bookstore, directly at Neckar-Verlag, or also at the Webshop the APW available.
Florian Scherrer and I wished for this 16 years ago, but didn't quite dare to hope for it: meanwhile, it's running «TAU - Autism-Specific Family Education®» for the seventh time. I firmly hope it is not the «evil seven» and that the course will retain a place in parental education in the coming years.
Two more evening courses for parents of individuals on the autism spectrum have already taken place. APW is committed to organizing further course offerings in this area. You can find news regarding this, as always, on our website (https://apwschweiz.ch/kursangebote/).
On September 3rd, there will be an opportunity to delve into the past and future of the Affolter Model® during a webinar led by Walter Ehwald. More detailed information can be found on the website at Agenda.
This year, more Meeting of the APW Regional Groups planned. For example, the next appointment of the Zurich Group already set 16.09. at the Foundation Child and Autism in Urdorf. Information about further meetings will be continuously posted on the website under Agenda.
To our great delight, there is a «National Affolter Day» this year. On November 7th, Affolter will hold information days in both Winterthur and Vevey. instead. More details also here on the website at Agenda.

Not much time has passed since the last issue of «Wonder and Understanding,» and the team of «People – Magazine for Living, Learning, and Working Together» is already in the final stages of the next issue, which deals with the theme „All Behavior Makes Sense.“.
Until then, the team once again recommends issue 1/26; because its theme is not losing its relevance: Wonder can interrupt the familiar, hold back hasty judgments, and open up a view for that which cannot be immediately explained. More at https://www.zeitschriftmenschen.at/
A topic one likes to ignore until it «catches them cold»: What happens to my loved ones when I'm no longer here? The Federal Association for People with Physical and Multiple Disabilities has a note on its website regarding the so-called Will for needy person. Perhaps think about this? The organizer provides information about the equally important legal precautions with a general power of attorney, guardianship order, living will, and their implementation. https://bvkm.de/angebote/25532-2/
