You Are Not Alone!
Are you affected yourself or a relative seeking guidance and opportunities to connect with others? Are you wondering whether parents can also attend an Affolter course ? Do you want to learn more about perception and its impairments? Do you feel that your own or a family member’s perception may be affected? What does that actually mean?
Individuals with a perceptual disorder have limitations in their ability to appropriately gather and process information. In a given situation, they may perceive important information only partially and struggle to interpret it correctly. The behavior of others is often misunderstood. Tasks outside familiar routines can be very challenging and may lead to difficult behaviors or withdrawal. A disorder of perception is not a standalone diagnosis but often occurs alongside other conditions (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, speech and behavioral disorders, acquired brain injury, multiple disabilities).
Counseling for Relatives & Therapy Referral for Affected Individuals
We support relatives and affected individuals in managing daily life more effectively. Our counseling is personalized, practical, and can take place by phone or in person, depending on your needs. Based on your situation, we can connect you with a suitable contact person and, through our network, help you find an appropriate professional nearby. Additionally, we provide relatives and parents of individuals with disorders of perception the opportunity to share their experiences with others.
